The Department of Trade and Industry alerts all consumers to watch out for fake Import Commodity Clearance stickers when buying Christmas lights. Consumers should also be wary of Christmas lights being sold at low prices. The substandard quality of these lights may make them unsafe to use.

The Department of Trade and Industry has been monitoring and enforcing the safety standards concerning Christmas lights in the entire Bicol region as it received reports that uncertified Christmas lights were being sold in the area.

In a monitoring activity conducted yesterday by the DTI-Albay enforcement team, headed by its Provincial Director Rodrigo M. Aguilar, close to ten establishments were found to be selling Christmas lights with fake, or without, ICC stickers. Rolls of fake ICC stickers were likewise confiscated.

The Christmas lights with fake or without ICC stickers found in the stores were sold for only P60-P80 per pack. Prices of Christmas lights with genuine ICC stickers in reliable stores range from P300-P500 per pack.

For further details, feel free to contact DTI-Albay at 4805720 local 109 or visit their office 3F Capitol Annex Bldg., Legazpi City.
